Google to Bring Call Screening Feature to India After 7 Years
Google is working on introducing Call Screening on Pixel phones in India. This feature was launched nearly seven years ago. It helps users screen unwanted calls. The feature uses artificial intelligence to suggest smart replies.
In select regions, including the US, Call Screening is already available. In India, the feature might require regulatory approval. Android Authority discovered files hinting at the rollout.
The feature will likely work manually. Users will tap “Screen call” and choose from various replies. Automated Call Screening won’t be available initially.
Apple is also introducing a similar feature with iOS 26. It will ask callers for information, helping users decide whether to answer or reject calls.
Google hasn’t confirmed the rollout plans or supported languages. The feature might support English and Hindi initially. Other languages could be added later.
This development comes after a user enabled Call Screening on a rooted OnePlus 7 in January 2024. Google Pixel phone users in India might soon benefit from this useful feature.
