WhatsApp’s Latest Android Beta Update Brings Status Ads and Promoted Channels
WhatsApp’s latest beta version for Android is rolling out two new features: Status Ads and Promoted Channels. These features were first announced by Meta on June 17.
New Features in WhatsApp Beta
The latest beta version, 2.25.21.11, allows business account users to post sponsored content in the Status section. This helps businesses promote their products and services.
Status Ads
Status Ads appear between status updates of a user’s contacts and are flagged as sponsored content. Users can block advertisers.
Promoted Channels
Promoted Channels make public channels more visible by highlighting them in the directory. This helps creators and businesses gain traction faster.
Ad Reporting Feature
WhatsApp had earlier introduced a feature. It generates detailed downloadable reports. These reports cover ads viewed in the Status and Channels sections. This feature is available in the WhatsApp beta 2.25.19.15 for Android update. The reports provide information about the ads, advertisers, and dates on which the ads were shown.
User Privacy
The two new features do not hamper the privacy of WhatsApp users. Businesses can reach a wider audience while keeping user data secure.
