OnePlus has made a major shift in its software strategy. The company will now transition its smartphones from OxygenOS to Oppo’s ColorOS in select global markets.
This change builds on the fact that OnePlus devices in China already run ColorOS versions. Although the firm has not yet shared an exact timeline, excitement is building around the upcoming update.
A leaked list of eligible devices has now surfaced online. According to tipster Yogesh Brar on X, many popular OnePlus handsets in India will receive the ColorOS 17 update, which runs on Android 17.
The list includes the OnePlus 11, launched in India back in February 2023. It also covers the OnePlus Open foldable, along with the OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13R, OnePlus 13s, OnePlus 15, and OnePlus 15R.
Moreover, several Nord series models appear set to join the party. These include the OnePlus Nord 4, Nord 5, Nord CE 5, Nord 6, Nord CE 6, and Nord CE 6 Lite.
This broad support stands out because it even reaches phones launched more than three years ago. As a result, longtime OnePlus fans could enjoy the fresh software experience.
However, OnePlus has not officially confirmed these details. Therefore, it makes sense to treat the information with caution for now.
The ColorOS 17 rollout marks the start of this bigger transition. Interestingly, the company recently announced plans to exit the US and European smartphone markets. Yet it will continue offering software support to existing customers in those regions.
