OnePlus Enters Open-Ear Segment with Buds Clip Earbuds

OnePlus is preparing to launch its first open-ear wireless earbuds, the Buds Clip. The company has listed the product on its official website and revealed three colour options. It expects to release the earbuds in select global markets soon. However, OnePlus has not yet shared pricing, a launch date, or full availability details.

Co-Developed With Dynaudio

The Buds Clip has been co-developed with Danish audio company Dynaudio. Dynaudio has previously worked with OnePlus on sound tuning for several of its true wireless products. The new earbuds use an open-ear design that clips around the ear instead of sitting inside the ear canal.

Sound and Call Features

Each earbud carries two dynamic drivers measuring 11mm and 9mm. They support LHDC 5.0, AAC, and SBC audio codecs. Users can adjust the sound through a 10-band equaliser and BassWave bass control.

For calls, every earbud includes two MEMS microphones and one VPU microphone. OnePlus has added AI Bone Call to capture the user’s voice more clearly while reducing background noise. The earbuds also feature Private Soundstage to limit sound leakage and a dedicated 6nm AI audio chip.

Connectivity and Extra Functions

The Buds Clip support Bluetooth 6.1 and can connect to two devices at the same time. They work with Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair for quicker pairing. Additional features include AI Translate, gesture controls for volume, and Drop Monitor, which detects if an earbud falls out.

Battery Life and Design

OnePlus rates battery life at up to eight hours on a single charge, or up to 36 hours with the charging case. These figures come from tests at 50 percent volume with LHDC enabled and default settings. Each earbud has a 58mAh battery, while the case holds a 530mAh cell. A full charge takes about 60 minutes for the earbuds alone, or roughly 80 minutes when charging the earbuds and case together. The case uses a USB Type-C port.

Each earbud weighs 3.9g and measures 27.6 x 25.5 x 17.6mm. The case weighs 35.9g and measures 61.35 x 55.32 x 26.39mm, bringing the total weight to about 43.7g. The earbuds carry an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance.

Colours and Launch Expectations

Buyers will be able to choose from Pearl White, Pebble Grey, and Twilight Rose colourways. OnePlus has not announced an exact launch date or price, but the Buds Clip are expected to arrive in select global markets soon.
