Samsung Introduces AirDrop-Like Sharing for Galaxy S26

Samsung will introduce AirDrop-style file sharing for Galaxy smartphones, enhancing cross-platform transfers.

Samsung plans to bring AirDrop-like file sharing to its Galaxy smartphones. The company will start with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. This feature allows direct transfers between Galaxy phones and Apple devices.

A senior Samsung executive confirmed the move. Won-joon Choi, President and COO of the mobile division, spoke at a recent press event in Japan. He explained that support will arrive through software updates. Users will no longer need third-party apps for sharing.

The rollout begins in phases. Once active, people can send photos, videos, and documents easily. Samsung’s Quick Share tool will handle transfers to iPhones, iPads, and Mac computers. Apple users simply enable AirDrop visibility on their side. Galaxy devices may briefly disconnect from Wi-Fi during the process.

AirDrop has remained a popular feature in Apple’s ecosystem for years. It enables fast, seamless sharing across iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Many users stay loyal to Apple partly because of this convenience. In mixed groups, the lack of easy cross-platform sharing often influences buying choices.

Samsung aims to remove this barrier. The company wants to make switching from iPhone to Galaxy smoother. It already promotes Smart Switch for moving data during transitions. Now, better file sharing adds another practical advantage.

The feature may extend beyond the S26 lineup. Older Galaxy models could receive it later through updates like One UI 9. This approach follows Google’s earlier step. Last year, Pixel phones gained similar peer-to-peer sharing with Apple devices. Google plans to bring the capability to more Android phones.

Market trends support Samsung’s strategy. Younger consumers focus more on useful features than brand loyalty. They value AI tools, strong cameras, and everyday convenience. Recent Galaxy devices offer AI call features and improved photography. Positive reviews highlight these strengths.

Cross-platform sharing could encourage more people to switch between Android and iOS. Samsung continues to emphasize practical improvements. The company positions itself as user-friendly in a mixed-device world.
