Google Photos Adds Redact Pen, Moods, and Broader AI Tools

Google Photos is rolling out new editing and organisation tools. The update aims to make images easier to mark, style, and share. Android and iOS will get the features at different times. Region also decides access.

Google has begun a global Android rollout of an upgraded Markup tool. A new Redact pen can blur sensitive details. Users can change pen thickness for tighter control. The tool also adds new fonts for text on photos.

Moods is arriving globally on Android as well. The feature applies AI styles that mimic 35mm film, 2000s digicams, and other vintage looks. Sliders let users raise or lower the effect. That gives more control over the final frame.

Remix is expanding too. Google is adding 15 templates on Android and iOS in selected countries. The set includes red-carpet looks, birthday cards, and photo-booth shots. Access is limited to users older than 18.

Wardrobe is reaching more people. Eligible Android and iOS users in the United States, India, and Brazil can use it. The tool sorts clothes found in photos into a digital collection. Users can browse items and try new combinations. Google says it does not share wardrobe data with retailers.

Gemini Spark now works with Photos for some subscribers. Eligible Google AI Pro and Ultra users in the United States can give one prompt. Spark can then pick family portraits, brighten them, and prepare them for sharing.

The rollout is staggered. Remix templates remain limited by country and age. Wardrobe is live only in three markets for now. Gemini Spark’s Photos help is still a U.S. subscriber feature. Users should check the app to see which tools have arrived.
