Sony Unveils Two New Pulse Wireless Headsets for PlayStation 5
Sony has announced two new wireless headsets for PlayStation 5. Both models expand the Pulse range and aim at clearer gaming audio. The company named them the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset and the Pulse Edge Wireless Headset. Pricing and pre-order dates are not public yet.
The Pulse Wireless Headset will arrive in select markets during the 2026 holiday season. That window usually means November and December. The Pulse Edge will follow in early 2027. Sony has not confirmed an India launch. It has also not announced pre-orders.
Both headsets will come in Midnight Black and White.
Custom planar magnetic drivers power the new models. Sony says the larger drivers keep the clarity of the Pulse Elite. They are also meant to help players locate footsteps and reloads. The standard Pulse uses four magnets in each driver. The Pulse Edge uses eight. Sony claims the Edge has twice the magnet volume. It says that extra volume adds deeper bass without losing detail.
Each headset includes a PlayStation Link adapter. The dongle uses USB Type-C and has onboard volume controls. PlayStation Link offers lossless, low-latency audio. It can switch among compatible devices, including PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, and Mac. Both headsets can also stay connected to supported Bluetooth devices at the same time.
Voice chat uses microphones with AI noise rejection. The Pulse has a built-in microphone. The Pulse Edge adds a detachable boom mic. A hidden microphone remains available when the boom is off.
The earcups rotate and lie flat for travel. Sony says the update should improve comfort and durability. The Pulse Edge also adds active noise cancellation. It ships with a carrying case, an audio and microphone jack, and game-to-chat balance controls for PS5.
Sony has focused this launch on audio hardware rather than a new console. Full prices should decide how the Pulse and Pulse Edge compare with current gaming headsets. Until those figures appear, the confirmed details are the two-model lineup, the holiday 2026 and early 2027 windows, and the shared PlayStation Link design.
