Xiaomi Launches New Air Purifiers in India: Key Features to Know

Xiaomi will launch two new air purifiers in India on August 25, 2023.

Xiaomi has announced the India launch date for two new air purifiers. The company will introduce the Mijia Air Purifier 6 and the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact on August 25. These will become the first products from Xiaomi’s Mijia sub-brand to arrive in the country. Xiaomi revealed the sub-brand last month. The two models are already on sale in global markets. However, the company has not yet shared India-specific pricing or full local specifications.

Xiaomi posted the launch details on X. The post also showed the design of both units. The Indian versions appear identical to the global models. The Mijia Air Purifier 6 is the larger option. Its global version delivers a particle CADR of 420 cubic metres per hour. It also offers a formaldehyde CADR of 150 cubic metres per hour. The company states that it can cover rooms of 29 to 50 square metres. In addition, it includes PM2.5 and PM1 displays, UV sterilisation and a negative-ion function.

A built-in screen shows particle concentration, temperature and humidity. It also indicates the status of the UV and negative-ion features. The unit measures 250 × 250 × 555 mm and weighs about 5.2 kg.

The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact targets smaller spaces. It is designed for rooms of 16 to 27 square metres. The global model provides a particle CADR of 230 cubic metres per hour. It uses a 3-in-1 filter that Xiaomi says can capture 99.97 percent of particles as small as 0.3 microns. A particulate matter sensor enables real-time air-quality monitoring. The device can automatically adjust its fan speed. Moreover, Sleep Mode can lower operating noise to 20 dB.

Mijia’s entry into India’s smart-home category forms part of Xiaomi’s wider plan to grow beyond smartphones. The company has not yet confirmed sales channels or availability dates beyond the launch announcement. Previously, Xiaomi India COO Sudhin Mathur said the brand would use an omni-channel strategy. This approach will combine online sales, existing retail stores, Mi Homes and large-format partners such as Vijay Sales, Croma and Reliance Digital.
