Google Could Sell Over 2 Million Smart Glasses in 2026
Google and Samsung recently unveiled their next-generation smart glasses at Google I/O 2026. The companies plan to launch both audio AI glasses and display-equipped models. However, they will introduce the audio versions first this year.
Moreover, a market research firm now predicts strong success for Google. Smart Analytics Global (SAG) claims that Google could sell more than two million units of its Android XR-powered smart glasses in 2026. As a result, Google may become the second largest player in the market after Meta.
According to the SAG report, Google will achieve this milestone if there are no major supply issues or delays. Additionally, the final price will play a key role in sales numbers.
This forecast marks a big win for the Google-Samsung partnership. Meta took several years to reach similar sales volumes. In contrast, Google aims to grow faster by building on Meta’s earlier work in popularizing AI glasses.
Furthermore, Google has teamed up with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster to design these smart glasses. Warby Parker offers affordable options with a wide retail presence in the US and Canada. On the other hand, Gentle Monster focuses on premium, stylish designs popular in Asia and Europe. This smart combination helps Google reach different customer groups worldwide.
The SAG report also forecasts that global AI smart glasses shipments will jump 85 percent year-on-year in 2026. Total shipments could cross 15 million units. Within this segment, audio AI smart glasses remain more popular because they are lighter, cheaper, and face fewer privacy concerns.
