Dyson CameraJet: Revolutionary AI Toothbrush for Optimal Oral Care

Dyson launched the $499 CameraJet toothbrush, featuring an intraoral camera and AI-powered plaque detection.

Dyson has launched the CameraJet electric toothbrush in global markets. The announcement came on Tuesday. The device puts a small intraoral camera in the brush head. Artificial intelligence then looks for gaps between teeth while the user brushes. A precision jet aims to clear plaque in those gaps in real time. The handle connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It works with the MyDyson app.

The CameraJet costs $499, or about Rs 47,000. United States buyers can choose Ceramic Ultra Blue or Ceramic Pink. India pricing was not part of this launch note.

The core system is Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting algorithm. A 100,000-pixel macro lens feeds an on-device machine-learning model. Dyson says the brush studies 28 live images each second. It claims to spot a gap within 100 milliseconds. A target lens can widen the view. A stroboscopic light lights the mouth for the camera. Meanwhile, a silicone-backed sonic dampener cuts vibration noise.

The motor oscillates 245 times per second. Variable sonic movement is meant to keep the bristles working across surfaces. Users can pick three cleaning modes: automatic brushing with precision flossing, brush only, or floss only. Intensity settings are Gentle, Variable, and Deep Clean.

Dyson says the product runs on 16 million lines of code. Training used 470,000 dental images. Flossing uses a conical jet and spray. A 12.5 ml anti-gravity mouth-rinse tank sits in the handle. A diaphragm pump and pressure chamber push the fluid. The retail box adds a refill dock, two regular brush heads, and a charging cable.

The dual-bristle head splits the job. Inner bristles target surface stains. Outer bristles work along the gumline. An RFID tag tracks use and replacement time. A sensitive head is also on offer.

The app shows the live camera view. It also stores brushing and flossing data, guides, and personalised feedback. A 30-second timer paces each session. Dyson rates battery life at up to 10 days on one charge. The body carries an IPX7 water-resistance rating.

In short, Dyson is selling a high-priced brush that films the mouth and aims a rinse jet at detected gaps. Availability has started in the United States. App pairing and replacement heads will decide how useful the camera remains after the first weeks of use.
