Redmi Note 17 5G Set for India Launch on August 6

Redmi plans to bring the Note 17 5G to India soon. This model marks the first entry in the Note 17 series for the country. Xiaomi’s sub-brand recently began teasing the device. The teasers highlight its design, display features, and large battery.

Leaks indicate the Indian version will match the Chinese model closely. In China, the phone runs on an octa-core Snapdragon 4 series chipset. It also features a 7-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Launch and Availability

Redmi will launch the Note 17 5G in India on August 6. The company has confirmed the date but has not shared the exact time. It remains unclear whether Redmi will hold a full event or opt for a soft launch. If a live event occurs, expect a stream on the official YouTube channel and other platforms.

A dedicated microsite for the phone is already live in India. This confirms the device will go on sale through Amazon. Color options in India include at least blue and purple. Meanwhile, the Chinese version offers black, light water green, and meteor purple.

Expected Pricing

Pricing details for India stay under wraps for now. Redmi will announce them on launch day along with the storage options. Recent reports suggest the base 6GB RAM plus 128GB storage model may start at around Rs. 30,000. The 8GB plus 128GB variant could land near Rs. 33,000.

These figures sit higher than the Chinese prices. In China, the phone launched on July 14. The base 6GB plus 128GB model started at CNY 1,299, roughly Rs. 18,000. Higher variants with 8GB plus 128GB and 8GB plus 256GB carried tags of about Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 23,000.

Design and Display

The Indian Redmi Note 17 5G will share the same design language as its Chinese counterpart. It features a flat rear panel and flat frame. A square camera module sits in the top-left corner. Redmi branding appears centered at the bottom of the rear. Power and volume buttons sit on the right side, while the left side stays clean. A USB Type-C port is located at the bottom.

The Chinese model measures 169.7 by 79.14 by 8.26 mm and weighs about 225 grams. Redmi’s microsite now confirms a TrueColour AMOLED display. This panel supports up to 120Hz refresh rates and covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut. In China, the phone uses a 7-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2396) OLED screen. It offers up to 240Hz touch sampling, peak brightness of 1,800 nits, and an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.

Performance and Software

Chipset and software details for India remain unconfirmed. Leaks point to the same setup used in China. That version packs a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset built on a 4nm process. It reaches a peak clock of 2.3 GHz and pairs with an Adreno GPU. Memory options go up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The phone ships with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.

Camera Setup

Camera details are still limited. Reports suggest a single 50-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture and LED flash. An 8-megapixel front camera with an f/2.0 aperture sits in a hole-punch cutout. Video recording is expected to reach 1080p at 30 frames per second.

Battery Life

Redmi has confirmed an 8,000mAh battery for the Note 17 5G. The company claims the phone can deliver more than three days of use on a single charge. In China, the device supports 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

Full specifications, pricing, and availability will become clear on August 6.
