Huawei Launches Pura X Max, Its First Wide-Folding Smartphone in China
Huawei officially launched its first wide-folding smartphone, the Pura X Max, on Monday in China. The company unveiled the device during its April 2026 launch event. At the same event, Huawei also introduced the Pura 90 series, Watch Fit 5 lineup, and Watch Buds 2.
The new foldable phone will go on sale in China later this week. Customers can purchase it from Huawei’s official online store starting April 25. Huawei offers the Pura X Max in five stylish colours: Interstellar Blue, Olive Gold, Phantom Black, Vibrant Orange, and Zero Degree White.
The phone comes in four different RAM and storage combinations. Huawei equips the device with its latest Kirin 9030 Pro chipset. It also features a large 5,300mAh battery that supports all-day usage.
Pricing in China
The base variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage costs CNY 10,999 (roughly Rs. 1,50,000). The 12GB + 512GB model is priced at CNY 11,999 (about Rs. 1,64,000). The 16GB + 512GB version costs CNY 12,999 (roughly Rs. 1,77,000). The top model with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage is priced at CNY 13,999 (about Rs. 1,91,000).
Key Specifications and Features
The Huawei Pura X Max runs on HarmonyOS 6.1. It boasts a large 7.7-inch LTPO 2.0 flexible OLED inner display. This screen offers up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 3,000 nits peak brightness, and support for 1.07 billion colours.
On the outside, the phone has a 5.4-inch Kunlun OLED cover display with up to 3,500 nits peak brightness. Both displays deliver smooth performance and vibrant visuals.
Huawei claims the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset brings major improvements. It delivers 25% faster CPU performance, 40% better GPU performance, and 70% improved NPU performance compared to the previous generation. The phone supports up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. It also comes with IP58 and IP59 ratings for excellent dust and water resistance.
For cameras, the Pura X Max features a triple rear camera system. It includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with variable aperture and optical image stabilisation. The setup also has a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 100x digital zoom and a 12.5-megapixel ultrawide camera. Users get two 8-megapixel front cameras for selfies and video calls.
The device packs a 5,300mAh battery. It supports 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. Additional features include 5G connectivity, Bluetooth 6, dual-band Wi-Fi, and multiple satellite navigation systems.
When folded, the phone measures 120 x 85 x 11.2 mm. When unfolded, it measures 120 x 166.5 x 5.2 mm. The handset weighs around 229 grams.
