Honor Magic V5 Set to Launch as World’s Thinnest Foldable Smartphone
The Honor Magic V5, a highly anticipated foldable smartphone, is scheduled to launch on July 2 in China. Ahead of its official reveal, Honor has shared images showcasing the device’s sleek design and color options.
Design and Colors
The Honor Magic V5 boasts a slim profile, measuring 8.8mm in thickness when folded, making it the world’s thinnest foldable smartphone. It will be available in four stunning color options:
- Dawn Gold
- Silk Road Dunhuang
- Velvet Black
- Warm White
Specifications
The device is expected to feature:
- RAM and Storage: Up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, with variants including 12GB + 256GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB
- Display: A 6.45-inch LTPO OLED cover screen and an 8-inch 2K inner display, both supporting 120Hz refresh rate
- Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset
- Battery: A 6,100mAh battery with 66W wired fast charging support
- Camera: A circular protruding rear camera island housing three sensors, including a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support, ultra-wide lens, and 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera
Comparison to Other Foldables
The Honor Magic V5 is thinner than the upcoming Vivo X Fold 5, which measures 9.2mm in thickness when folded. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to measure 3.9mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded.
Global Launch
While the Honor Magic V5 is set to launch in China on July 2, a global launch is expected to follow later in the year, possibly at IFA 2025 in Berlin
