Google Fitbit Air Reaches India as Screenless Fitness Tracker
Google has brought the Fitbit Air to India. The device is the company’s first screenless fitness tracker. It delivers round-the-clock heart-rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, sleep analysis and automatic activity recognition. Battery life reaches up to seven days. The band works with both Android and iOS phones. Extra tools include cardio-load scores, a readiness rating and more than 40 exercise modes.
Fitbit first launched the Air worldwide in May. The tracker has now appeared on Flipkart. The listing shows a price of Rs 13,999. The page currently marks the item as “Coming Soon.” The model number is listed as GA09509-AU. Google has already confirmed an October arrival in India. An exact date has not been given.
Tipster Sanju Choudhary claims the launch could fall on 2 October. He places the price between Rs 12,999 and Rs 13,999. The Flipkart figure of Rs 13,999 may change once official offers appear. Globally the band started at 99 dollars, or about Rs 9,500.
The Fitbit Air uses a screenless design and weighs 12 grams. Sensors include an optical heart-rate unit, a three-axis accelerometer and gyroscope, red and infrared sensors for SpO2, a skin-temperature sensor and a vibration motor. Water resistance is rated at 50 metres.
Fitness tracking covers heart rate, steps, calories, distance, cardio load and readiness. The band also records sleep, Active Zone Minutes and automatically recognises activities. More than 40 exercise modes are supported. Silent alarms and smart-wake functions are included.
Health tools monitor heart rhythm, resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep stages and skin temperature. Google Health Coach supplies personalised fitness and wellness guidance.
The tracker pairs with Android and iOS smartphones over Bluetooth Low Energy. The Flipkart listing specifies Bluetooth 5.0. Syncing needs an internet connection and location permission on the phone.
A lithium-polymer battery is rated for up to seven days. Google states that five minutes of charging can deliver a full day of use. India buyers should treat the battery claim as a laboratory figure until independent tests appear. Final price and the precise launch date will be confirmed when sales begin.
