Subnautica 2 Early Access Success: 2 Million Sold

Subnautica 2 sells 2 million copies in 12 hours, becoming a top seller amidst legal battles.

Subnautica 2 Achieves Massive Success in Early Access

Subnautica 2 has made a spectacular debut in early access. The survival game sold 2 million copies within just 12 hours of its release on May 14. It is now available on PC and Xbox Series S/X.

The game reached 1 million copies sold even before its official launch. It quickly topped Steam’s global best-sellers chart. Within one day, sales doubled and created huge excitement among players worldwide.

This strong performance comes after a long and difficult legal battle. Last year, publisher Krafton attempted to replace the studio’s leadership at Unknown Worlds Entertainment. The original team, including CEO Ted Gill and co-founders Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire, filed a lawsuit. A court later ruled in their favor and ordered Krafton to reinstate Gill as CEO.

Before launch, Subnautica 2 gathered over 5 million wishlists on Steam. At its peak, the game reached 467,582 concurrent players shortly after release. It has now become one of the most-played titles on the platform.

Fernando Melo, executive producer of Subnautica 2, expressed his excitement. He said the early access launch marks the start of a shared adventure with players around the world. He added that player feedback will guide future development throughout the early access period.

Subnautica 2 is currently available on Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox app, and Xbox Series S/X. The developers plan to build the game together with the community in the coming months.
