Spotify Discontinues Premium Lite in India: What You Need to Know

Spotify has discontinued its Premium Lite plan in India, revising other subscription prices instead.

Spotify has discontinued its Premium Lite plan in India. The company launched this affordable tier in November 2025. However, it removed the plan from its website and mobile app after six months.

Additionally, Spotify has revised prices for other Premium subscriptions. It lowered the cost of Standard and Student plans. Yet the price of the top Premium Platinum plan stays the same. The benefits for all plans remain unchanged.

A Spotify spokesperson confirmed the decision on Wednesday. The company said it adapts plans regularly to offer better value and choice to users. As a result, the Lite plan is no longer available in India.

Spotify now displays only three Premium plans on its platforms. The Standard plan has become the most affordable option. Users can subscribe at Rs. 99 for the first three months and then pay Rs. 139 per month. Previously, it cost Rs. 199 per month.

Moreover, the Student plan now costs Rs. 69 for the first two months and Rs. 69 every month afterward. This marks a drop from its earlier price of Rs. 99 per month.

Both Standard and Student plans let users stream music and audiobooks ad-free at up to 320 kbps. They provide the same features as before. Meanwhile, the Premium Platinum plan shows no changes in pricing or benefits.

Spotify introduced Premium Lite last year at Rs. 139 per month. It delivered high audio quality up to 160 kbps without ads for a single account. The company has not yet clarified what happens to existing Lite subscribers.
