Samsung Unveils Exynos 1680 Chipset for Upcoming Galaxy A57 5G

Samsung has officially introduced its new Exynos 1680 processor. This chipset will power the upcoming Galaxy A57 5G smartphone. The company built the processor on an advanced 4nm process node. It delivers clear improvements in CPU, GPU, and AI performance.

The Exynos 1680 features a tri-cluster octa-core CPU design. It includes one high-performance Cortex-A720 core running at 2.9GHz, four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6GHz, and three efficiency Cortex-A520 cores at 1.95GHz. Samsung replaced one efficiency core with a mid-performance core. As a result, the chipset offers better speed while controlling power consumption effectively.

For graphics, Samsung equipped the chipset with the new Xclipse 550 GPU. This GPU uses AMD’s RDNA 3 architecture. According to Samsung, the new GPU delivers up to 16 percent better performance than its predecessor. Gamers will enjoy smoother visuals and improved gameplay. The chipset also supports fast LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. It can drive full-HD+ displays with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate.

In addition, the Exynos 1680 comes with a powerful NPU. This neural processing unit reaches up to 19.6 TOPS. It also includes an AI engine that supports 8K MAC operations. Users will benefit from faster on-device AI tasks such as image editing, live translation, and smart photo processing.

On the camera front, the chipset supports a single 200-megapixel sensor. It can also handle a 64-megapixel sensor at 30 frames per second and dual 32-megapixel setups. The processor enables 4K video recording and playback at 60fps. It further improves low-light photography through AI-based noise reduction.

For connectivity, the Exynos 1680 offers strong support. It includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6.1, and full 5G capabilities. The chipset reaches peak download speeds of 5.1Gbps on sub-6GHz networks and 4.84Gbps on mmWave. It also supports LTE Cat.18 with decent data speeds.

Samsung has already started mass production of the Exynos 1680. The new chipset is expected to bring noticeable upgrades to the mid-range Galaxy A57 5G. Consumers can look forward to better performance, smoother gaming, and enhanced AI features in the upcoming smartphone.
