Google introduces an AI-powered Fitbit Health Coach for personalized wellness via its Fitbit app.

Google Unveils AI-Powered Fitbit Personal Health Coach.

Google is bringing artificial intelligence to personal wellness with the public preview of its Gemini-powered Fitbit Personal Health Coach. The AI-powered feature combines fitness training, sleep analysis, and wellness insights into a chat-based experience. It integrates directly into the revamped Fitbit app.

How Google Used Gemini AI Models

Google’s Gemini AI models improve software for wearable health and fitness devices. Gemini allows dynamic planning and chat prompts. The coach offers capabilities similar to its Personal Health LLM.

Key Features

  • Personalized fitness plans based on user goals and aspirations
  • Natural conversation for workout modifications and progress insights
  • “Ask Coach” button for instant advice or plan adjustments
  • Feedback tools refine the experience

Development Process

Google didn’t fully rely on Gemini. The company took feedback from a Consumer Health Advisory Panel and spent over 100,000 hours on human evaluation. The redesigned app organizes information into four main sections: Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health.

Rollout and Availability

The feature is currently limited to Android users with a Pixel Watch or Fitbit device. iOS support is expected soon. A full rollout is planned for next year alongside new Fitbit hardware.
