Qualcomm and BMW Unveil Advanced Driver Assistance System

Qualcomm and the BMW Group have jointly launched a new assisted driving system called Snapdragon Ride Pilot. This system debuted on the BMW iX3 SUV, offering advanced autopilot capabilities.

  • Level 2+ highway and urban navigation: Enables hands-free driving and contextual lane changes
  • 360-degree perception: Uses camera-based vision system for object detection and lane recognition
  • AI-powered parking assistance: Enhances safety and convenience
  • Cloud-based data flywheel system: Continuously improves system performance
  • Over-the-air updates: Ensures seamless software updates

Technical Details:

  • Snapdragon Ride SoC: Developed by Qualcomm for advanced driver assistance
  • Snapdragon Ride AD software stack: Co-developed with BMW for automated driving
  • V2X chipset: Enables vehicle-to-everything communication for enhanced safety

Availability:

The Snapdragon Ride Pilot system is now available to global carmakers and Tier-1 suppliers. It has been validated for use in over 60 countries and is expected to expand to 100 countries in 2026.
