Google Drive Now Allows Direct Video Editing with Google Vids
Google has introduced a new feature that enables users to edit videos directly within Google Drive without needing third-party apps. The feature, called Google Vids, is currently available to Google Workspace Business, Enterprise, Essentials, Nonprofits, and Education accounts. It is also available to users with Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra subscriptions.
Key Features of Google Vids:
- Video Editing: Trim clips, add music, and insert text into videos
- Media Support: Add images and GIFs to video projects, supporting MP4, QuickTime, OGG, and WebM formats
- Project Limits: Upload up to 35-minute-long individual clips, smaller than 4GB, and add up to 50 video objects per project
- Import Options: Import media from Google Drive, Google Photos, or upload directly from computer or web
- AI-powered Tools: Generate video outlines using stock media and voiceover, create custom footage, and transform text into dynamic video clips with Veo 3
- Collaboration: Share and collaborate on videos like Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
Availability and Accessibility:
Google Vids works on most web browsers, with full functionality on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge (Windows only). This feature is part of Google’s efforts to enhance video functionality in Google Drive, following the introduction of built-in video transcripts earlier this year
